After 13 years as a software developer for a national meal-kit franchise in the Seattle area, I decided to take my experience with complex, high-scale logistics and apply it to a community I've always admired.

Why the name "HutlRound"?
"I wanted to name this platform after the very places that inspired its creation. HutlRound is short for 'Huddle Around.'"
It represents the core of the hobby community: friends sitting at a table together, huddling around a game, a meal, or a shared passion. My goal was to build software that protects that social atmosphere by removing the technical hurdles that distract from it.
Solving the "FrankenStack."
I am primarily a video gamer, but I have always had a deep appreciation for the social atmosphere of tabletop cafes and local hobby shops. While looking for ways to contribute my skills to smaller local shops, I noticed a frustrating trend.
These community spaces were often running on a "FrankenStack"—a messy patchwork of mismatched interfaces and disconnected tools that forced staff and customers to navigate a maze of logins.
Style Mismatch
Websites were a patchwork of different tools that looked and felt like they belonged to different companies.
Friction in Operations
Every task required a different login, slowing down the very people trying to build community.
Unified Mixed Tickets
The biggest gap? A single platform that could handle food, retail, and experiential services in one ticket.
The Need
Local hobby shops needed a unified home—a place where their unique business model wasn't treated as an afterthought.
The Passion
Seeing this gap spurred my passion to build. I wanted to empower small shops with the same technical excellence I used for national brands.
The Result
HutlRound was born to serve as the single, elegant engine for the shops that bring our communities together.
